Criticisms, Witticisms and Praise

This section contains my favorite comments others have made about me over time; not all of them are flattering but I love them all.

“She definitely won’t use two words where six will do.”  - Desres on T’Other Place, November 21st, 2010 (in reference to “My Body, My Choice“)

“Former prostitute out-researches CNN…and does so in only 90 minutes.” (Econjeff on January 31st, 2011 for a link to “Numerology“)

“Seriously one of my favorite blogs on the internet. Maggie McNeill eviscerates the morons who think women can’t make sexual and economic decisions for themselves.  Plus there’s a naked picture of her for all you horndogs.”  -  Zoltan on Reason, February 24th, 2011

“Blog of pure awesomeness i just got pointed to…”  -  Tweet by Luscious Lani, March 28th, 2011

“Sometimes she sounds like a teenage Rand on pot.”  -  Jaume on The Other Atheists, March 30th, 2011 (I presume he means Ayn Rand; it was in reference to this comment of mine)

Also on March 30th, Daphne at Jaded Haven called me “an entrepreneur who unveils a formidable mind with one wicked-ass pen,” and said “This niche blogger is eminently likable from so many corners, she’s simply a great read.”

“I’d like to thank Maggie McNeil for adding me to her blogroll.  I’d like to especially thank her for listing me as a ‘friend of whores’.  I think I’m going to add that line to my bio.”  -  Radley Balko on The Agitator, April 17th, 2011

“What Maggie does so well is reveal how laws restricting prostitution are just backdoor ways of infantilizing women…I love to make fun of women who demonize men for their own follies.  Well, here’s one who owns it—full and proper.  I like that.”  -  Pasquin on Spackling the Holes in My Soul with Young Girls’ Hearts, April 22nd, 2011

Alek Novy included a link to my blog in a post entitled “Sex-Loving Counter-Feminists” (along with Feminisn’t).  I think “counter-feminist” is a great term and I’ll probably borrow it.

“For the past couple months, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying a blog by a former ‘lady of the night.’  A prostitute.  A hooker.  A whore.  And one of the smartest people writing on the web today.”  -  Ed Gates, in a post entitled “There’s Something About Maggie“, June 24, 2011

In a July 9th, 2011 post, La Libertine referred to me as “the incomparable Maggie McNeill“.  I can’t even begin to tell you how flattered I am by that particular adjective.

On October 21st, 2011 Gorbachev showed “Savaging” to his brother, who wrote “This woman’s, like, an educated whore?  She must cost a fortune,” and added “I had to read it twice.  Never seen someone beat back retards like that. Satellite guided missiles, man.”

On November 26th, 2011 new reader Ben described my blog as “A quiet voice of reason amidst a cacophony of monkeys.”

On January 25th, 2012 regular reader The Dudes Are Emerging described “Safety in Numbers” as “Yet another bookmark of awesomeness to add to my collection.”

On March 18th, 2012 a reader on Nick Kristof’s column wrote:  ”Well, well, talk about taking an own-goal — Nick Kristof has twittered a link to none other than Maggie McNeill, aka ‘The Honest Courtesan‘.  Know what this means?  It means that the hysteria, lies and ludicrous exaggerations that make up the ‘human trafficking’ scam/industry are going to be most pitilessly exposed.  The outrageous lies peddled by Kristof and the ‘trafficking’ industry cannot survive an encounter with the brilliant, relentless and superbly informed McNeill.”

On May 1st, 2012 Amazing Susan referred to me as “the mistress of logical argument” and a “colourful commentator on all things carnal“.

On July 2nd, Hal 10000 commented on guest blogging at The Agitator with “Wow. @Popehat and @Maggie_McNeill are posting at @radleybalko ’s website. It’s like a voltron of civil liberties righteousness.“
